Our Story
Restored Generation began as an expression of Hope & Remembrance that was formed into a community wide organization established by the founders, (mother and daughter) Janice & Tracy Moore:
Our experience--
On March 16, 2008, our lives along with many other lives in our community changed forever. This is the day that a young man’s life was tragically lost, another young man was displaced from his home, and others lost their freedom. -- An all too often occurrence among young people in today’s society.
We realize that we cannot change the events of the past; however, we felt that it was in part, our responsibility to improve our community for the sake of our future generation. This tragic event broke our heart but it also became a catalyst for us. We wanted to be initiators of change and progress within our own community. We refused to allow the death of a young man to be in vain. We along with so many others felt the need to help our children and change their environment for the better.
Our goal was to start a nonprofit organization that created a counter reality of negativity, failure and hopelessness in the lives of young people. This organization would provide a means of helping the youth by connecting them with positive role models in their life and by creating an environment that will allow them to grow to become respectful, inspiring and admirable leaders of their generation.
With the encouragement and support of friends, family, and the greater community, over the summer of 2008 we began a journey to establish Restored Generation, Inc. We believe in the quote “Never doubt that a small group of committed citizens can change the world, indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”—Margaret Mead and we intend on helping to change to our world for the better.
